1. Please introduce yourself for anyone who may not know you. Tell us a little bit more about you as a band.
We are Nothing Minor, we are four-piece emotive alt-metal band. We are fresh but we've been busy over the last 18 months, playing our first show to a sold-out Fuel to playing an acoustic set at the 2000trees busking stages to playing our first headline show at the start of this year. Coming of age right when emo music was at it's prime, we have a mission of spreading mental health awareness, our songs are packed with details of our lives that we are channelling and we urge our audiences to speak up to close ones and helplines – “Nothing is Minor, You All Matter”.
We've helped raised money for a few foundations since starting, one of which being, Uprawr Mental Health Foundation, that hosted the "1000 Lights" - a fundraiser where 1000 musicians played Linkin Park. The foundation was motivated after Chester Bennington's tragic passing. Recently, we recorded two of our tracks with Todd Campbell of Stompbox Studios and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons - we are very happy with our work with him and we're going to turn some heads upon release.
2. What made you want to participate in the Metal To The Masses South Wales 2025 campaign? Have you had previous experience? Or is this your first time?
This is our first time; we are participating to test ourselves and show the local music scene that haven't had a chance to see us yet what we are all about. This competition turns up the heat on bands, you must believe you belong and that's what we need – we feel M2TM provides. Pushing our songwriting, performance and promotional abilities to separate ourselves from the rest. Plus, it's a really easy way to support all our favourite local bands in one day.
3. M2TM is all about supporting your local scene. How important is the local scene to you as a band?
It's crucial, but you only get out of it what you put in. It's easier and easier to release music these days and live shows is the best way to separate yourself from the rest. If you want better and better shows as a band, you got to make those connections, show some respect and do your best every time. We have played and travelled during weather alerts and across the country - just in the 18 months we've been gigging even seeing that one person bang their head or sway along makes it worth it every time. We want more
4. What are your expectations from being a part of M2TM?
Play Bloodstock obviously. No, in all seriousness, it's always about honing the craft, making those connections and band exposure. We've already met some of the bands before by being on the same bill and from there, we've let each other know when there are opportunities for a gig around and shared each other’s releases. M2TM is breeding ground for promoting band relationships and fan relationships - so if we're going to say it up front - we expect to work with the other bands in future, turn a few heads to gain more of a following and see more people at our shows and listening to our music. We expect to be a different band after this, one that's tried and tested - seeing a new outlook being a band, one that we haven't had an opportunity to see yet.
5. What would playing a Sold-Out Bloodstock Festival mean to you?
Our mission with Nothing Minor on top of aiming to live out our music dreams, is to promote an awareness on mental health. Many of us who listen to this music have got into it because it quiets our mind, or it spoke to us when we're feeling vulnerable. We want to be that band for people and playing a sold-out festival of that magnitude will help us share that message to the crowd that might be affected directly or indirectly, we want to start that conversation as well as play music that is a love letter to our inspirations and to each other. Our songs share things we are held to ourselves or only to the ones closest to us, we are opening-up, literally screaming it out, it's cathartic and we want that for the fans at Bloodstock too.
6. We encourage all the bands in M2TM to try and check out the other bands, who are you most looking forward to? Who should your fans also try to catch?
Our top 3 are Akuma, Icantdie and House of Hosts - MUST SEE in our opinion. Bands we've been on bills with, and each one brings something different to the table - incredibly talented and running off pure love of this music and performing, also knowing the members we are close with, running off a little of spite which just makes everything more powerful and authentic.
